Shiva organic’s bhangjeera is authentic Himalayan product, comes straight from farmers and is not chemically washed. This is native to mountain region and has high nutritional value. The seeds and leaves of perilla are also used for flavoring curries in north east India, the seeds are called Bhangjeera. The seeds are harvested in autumn when the fruits are ripe. To collect perilla seeds, the whole plant is harvested, and the seeds are beat out of the plant, before being spread for sun drying. Perilla seeds can be soft or hard, being white, grey, brown, and dark brown in colour and globular in shape. It has a distinctive nutty aroma and taste and it adds to the flavour of various dishes. It is used in various region of India, Nepal and even Korea. Perilla is used as culinary and medicinal herb in many part of Asia.

I so much liked the wuality.
गाँव में जब चटनी बनती थीं, तो उसमें भांगजीरा का खास स्वाद होता था। आजकल वैसे मसाले मिलते ही नहीं, लेकिन इस भांगजीरा ने वही पुरानी यादें ताजा कर दीं।
I enjoy sprinkling them on soups and it is a chutney star for sure.
